Mardi Gras season is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited for all the king cake, bead collecting, and partying. If you’re hosting a party of your own this year, I want to make sure you set the tone of your party right off the bat with the perfect Mardi Gras vibe. Decorations are just one of the details in your party planning journey, but they do make all the difference! But throwing a party can become costly, that’s why I’m going to share with you a quick and easy idea for a DIY dollar store Mardi Gras centerpiece that’s perfect for your Fat Tuesday celebration. Read on to see how I pulled it off.DIY Dollar Store Mardi Gras Centerpiece

I began by making a shopping list, which included the following:

  • Clear Vases
  • Mardi Gras Beads
  • Mardi Gras Masks
  • Tall Sticks or Straws

Then I headed to my local dollar store to get my materials. I think sticks/skewers might be sturdier but I went with straws since I’m going to have a few kids at my party and this way I won’t have to worry about them hurting themselves if they played with the masks.

Once I had all my supplies on hand, the next steps were pretty straight forward. I glued each mask onto a stick. I happened to gave a glue gun at home but you can use regular glue or tape, whatever you have at home. Or you can add it to your shopping list to pick up at the dollar store if you don’t have anything handy.

Next I added the beads into the vase. You can either put different colored beads into every vase or you can make each vase contain just one color. I experimented a few different ways but I thought it looked best when I color blocked it and also hung a few strands outside of the vase.

Finally, I just stuck the masks into the vase and, Voila! Not only were these centerpieces cheap and simple to make, they’re a real time saver! Best of all, for less than the cost of disposable decorations, you can store these and reuse them for your next themed party. Now all you’ll need is Mardi Gras themed food and costumes and you’re all set for a good time! For more Mardi Gras party tips, be sure to subscribe to our blog.
