Pure Costumes Goes to Comikaze (Part 2)

As we mentioned last week, we took a trip to the LA Convention center this past Saturday for the annual comic book convention, Comikaze. As a first-timer, I’ve got to say that it was an overall success. Incredible booths, amazing artwork, and awesome vibes from attendees and cosplayers, it was a wonderful experience for the whole family. Today, we’re highlighting some of our favorite moments from the show so if you’re interested, keep reading!

We began by picking up our badges at the front. The line went pretty fast and it was pretty amusing seeing everyone dressed up. It was sort of like a mini cosplay parade. We eventually got our passes and were able to get in.

Just look at that awesome artwork!

Immediately after getting into the convention center, we were asked to take a picture by a photographer. I’ve deduced that if you want to get your picture taken, make sure you attend in costume. Here’s our first picture of the day.

I had to make the Toad costume in a pinch. (Don’t judge me.)

One of the first booths we visited was the one promoting the new Disney film, Big Hero 6. We took a picture with a life-sized inflatable Baymax. Inside the booth, you get to take a picture in front of a green screen and they Photoshop you riding on Baymax as you fly through the city. Pretty cool, huh?

Throughout the day, we spotted a lot of great cosplay. Here are some of our favorites:

We walked through the Stan Lee Museum exhibit at the show which showcased some of his best artwork and creations, from drawings to movie props, to scale models and more.

Howie Mandell was also at the show promoting a reboot of the show Bobby’s World. He was doing a meet a great, giving out signatures and taking pictures with fans, which is so nice of him. As a 90’s kid, this is major! I really hope they bring back this great cartoon so my kids can enjoy it just as much as I did when I was a child.

They also had a cool video game area featuring vintage video games and arcade games including the Michael Jackson arcade game. (Does anyone remember that?) Here’s a picture of the Mario Bros. playing the original Mario Bros. arcade game.

There was so much more to see including the panels and celebrities, which we did not partake in that day. However, we were able to take home some awesome merchandise including incredible artwork and t-shirts. It was a lot of fun for the whole family and we highly recommend that you attend next year if you’ve never been. If you were there, we want to hear about your experience.
