Sunday Funday: Star Wars Celebration

This week, the Star Wars Celebration is coming to Anaheim, CA! Lucky for us SoCal folk, that means that the biggest Star Wars fan convention will be right in our backyard. If this is the first time you’re hearing about this event, the Star Wars Celebration is the official Star Wars fan convention. It travels to a different city and, oddly enough, is not necessarily an annual occurrence! Previous conventions have been held in cities like Orlando, FL, Indianapolis, IN and have even been hosted overseas in Germany and Japan! That’s why it’s such a big deal that Star Wars Celebration will be hosted in Southern California.

Now the question is what can you expect at the show? First off are the incredible guest speakers which include J.J. Abrams, the director of the upcoming Star Wars film which will be released later this year! You’ll also find practically all the actors of the original Star Wars trilogy speaking at panels or signing autographs! There will also be some incredible panels featuring artists of the different cartoon series and comic books along with set and prop builders from the films.

If you’re looking for interactive activities, they have some cool events that you might enjoy like a Bounty Hunt, Jedi Training, and Speed Dating. There will even be Star Wars tattoo artists for those who want to wear their pride! If you’re more of a sight-seer, there are plenty of exhibits including an art show, life-sized props and set designs.

As with every convention, you’ll find a section for merchandise where you can find unique Star Wars collectibles and of course a cosplay contest. There will also be a costume parade for children in the special Family Room for those who want to show off their costume, but are too shy to get on stage.

If you’re ready to get in on the fun, you can still buy tickets on their website. Don’t forget to grab a Star Wars costume for you and the family at Which activity are you most excited for at the show? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
