Los Angeles Area Costume Events: July 2018
Summer is officially here so it’s time to have some fun! Con season is in full swing, so if you’re in the Los Angeles area, you’re bound to find some fun events that allow you to dress up in costume!
Anime Expo– July 5-8 at the Los Angeles Convention Center
Join over 100,000 otakus as they head to Downtown LA to celebrate Anime and Japanese pop-culture! At Anime Expo you’ll find the inside scoop on your favorite animes, mangas, games, movies, and more! At AX you can meet your favorite voice actors, participate in workshops and panels, and buy some cool merch. You can even see your favorite J-Pop group live, or have a snack at a Maid or Butler cafe! Dress up as your favorite Anime characters and join the epic cosplay scene! This expo is so packed, it extends to hotels and bars all over Downtown! Don’t forget to hit up some of the many after parties where you can get in for free with your AX badge or if you’re in costume!
Hamiltunes LA– July 6th at Three Clubs, Los Angeles
You’ll definitely want to be in this room when it happens. If you’ve ever wished you could get on stage and belt out your favorite songs from the hit musical, Hamilton, you’re in luck! Hamiltunes LA is the karaoke party of your dreams where you and other Hamilton fans can sing your heart out to this epic revolutionary musical! Put on your best Colonial and Revolutionary War costumes and get into character! Don’t throw away your shot and miss this fun event!
Comic Con International: San Diego– July 19-22 at The San Diego Convention Center
The most anticipated event in the entertainment world is finally here! San Diego Comic Con is THE place for news and updates on all things pop culture! At SDCC you’ll find panels with your favorite celebrities and entertainment professionals. If you’re brave enough to wait in hours long lines for huge studios like Marvel and DC, you’ll get cool sneak peaks. Get insider info on all the big movies coming that year and announcements for new projects! Couldn’t get tickets to this epic event? Don’t worry! This con is too big for the convention center to contain! Hang around the convention center and Downtown San Diego area for free pop up shops and fan events. There’s loads of free activities, free stuff, and cool cosplays to look at at! You might even run into a few celebrities (and maybe a few disguised in costume!)
Midsummer Scream– July 28-29 at the Long Beach Convention Center
It’s Halloween in July! If you’re a horror fanatic then this convention is the place to be! With over 76,000 sq ft of terror, this year’s Midsummer Scream is bigger than ever! Find vendors, live entertainment, and horror mazes and experiences in the main hall. Or head to a panel and meet your favorite horror stars and industry professionals. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to wear your spooky Halloween costume in the middle of summer! Scary costumes and eerie makeup are highly encouraged!
