Free Comic Book Day & Star Wars Day, May 4th, various locations
This year Free Comic Book Day will be extra special because it falls on Star Wars Day! On Free Comic Book Day comic book shops all over the country will host events and give out select free comics! The goal is to encourage kids to read and introduce them to the world of comics. At these family friendly events you can find everything from book signings, dance parties, and film and TV show screenings, and snacks! Cosplay and costumes are encouraged so get dressed up and head to the comic book shop! Click here to find a participating shop!
Many shops will be combining their Star Wars Day celebrations with Free Comic Book Day. You can also find clubs and bars hosting parties and trivia nights to celebrate Star Wars Day. Grab your costumes and head out for a day of nerd fun!
MapleStory Fest, May 11, ExchangeLA
Fans of the online game MapleStory can finally meet up at this one day convention in LA. At MapleStory Fest you’ll find the game’s developers and publishers in one place! Participate in Q&A’s, panels, and get exclusive announcements. Cosplay is encouraged so get your MapleStory costumes ready!
ZotCon, May 11, University of California, Irvine
The idea of having small comic book and anime conventions on college campuses is growing more popular every year! This year, UC Irvine has decided to host their own! Introducing the first annual ZotCon! This Anime convention is put on by UCI’s Anime convention club. At ZotCon you’ll find an opportunity for UCI students and non-students to express their love for anime, manga, and gaming. Cosplay is strongly encouraged so get dressed up and head to college for a day of Anime fun!
Comic Con Revolution Ontario, May 18-19, Ontario Convention Center
Comic Con Revolution Ontario returns for its third year! During this weekend you can expect to find over 160 vendors, exclusive panels with your favorite creators and publishers, and even celebrity guests! This year will feature appearances by voice actors from Overwatch, Red Dead Redemption, and even the voice of Donald Duck! Like every comic convention, cosplay is highly encouraged!
