Marvel Movie Marathon

Spending a lot more time at home these days has given me a great opportunity to do a lot of things at home I used to feel like I didn’t have time for. I’ve been spending more time organizing around my house, baking, and catching up on movies and shows. I thought this is the perfect opportunity to freshen up my memory on some of my favorite movies, Marvel movies. It’s the perfect time for a Marvel movie marathon!

I’ve decided that there’s 2 ways to decide on the order of movie viewing. You can watch the movies in order of release date, or in order of the time frame within the MCU, which in fact is a bit different than how the films were actually released.

Release Date Order

If you plan to watch the movies in order of release date, you’ll want to watch in the following order:

  • Iron Man (2008)
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008)
  • Iron Man 2 (2010)
  • Thor (2011)
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
  • The Avengers (2012)
  • Iron Man 3 (2013)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013)
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
  • Ant-Man (2015)
  • Captain America: Civil War (2016)
  • Doctor Strange (2016)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017)
  • Spider-man: Homecoming (2017)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
  • Black Panther (2017)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
  • Captain Marvel (2019)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • Spider-man: Far From Home (2019)

Chronological Order

Alternatively, you can watch the movies in chronological order. I think that I will be watching in this order just to enjoy watching the story progress with no feeling like there’s a time warp. For chronological order, watch in this order:

  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Captain Marvel
  • Iron Man
  • Iron Man 2
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Thor
  • The Avengers
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Doctor Strange
  • Black Panther
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home

My Experience

As of right now, I have only watched these movies in the order that they were released, I typically go to the theater to see them the weekend they are released because I’m just too excited to wait! I feel like the downside of that is, for example, seeing a movie like Captain Marvel when released forces you to mentally backtrack as the movie is set in the 1990’s, while most of the other films take place in the present time of their release date. Captain Marvel also was released much more recent than the majority of the MCU films. My plan is to have my own Marvel Movie Marathon, but I want to view the films in chronological order as I feel like the story telling might be, as mentioned earlier, a little smoother. I can’t tell you how excited I am to start off my marathon by popping up some popcorn and enjoying the first 124 minutes of Chris Evans kicking butt on screen. *Insert heart-eye emoji here*

Until new Marvel movies are released, bingeing on old favorites will have to do. Make more fun out of your Marvel Movie Marathon by watching in costume! For now, I will be making myself comfortable on my couch with my popcorn for my own marathon.

Part time Disney princess, but I love the Disney villains. I enjoy things that are spooky such as zombies, skeletons, and bad witches. I enjoy sewing projects and making delicious food and treats. My favorite superhero is Batman, because I am the night.
