Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest 2014

Looking for a place to celebrate Oktoberfest in your hometown? We’ve done a bit of research to help you out. Last year, we did a feature on where to celebrate Oktoberfest in the Los Angeles area. This year, we wanted to expand our horizons and take a look at some of the biggest celebrations in the country. After researching some of the largest and oldest celebrations in the country, we’ve created a list of all the Oktoberfest hot spots that you’ll want to check out this year.

Oktoberfest at Santa Anita Park – Arcadia, CA

Starting with our hometown, the popular Southern California horse race track Santa Anita Park, will be hosting Oktoberfest for the second year in a row. This festival, (which is literally a few miles away from our Halloween costumes warehouse), is sponsored by local foodie favorite Dog Haus which means there will be plenty of delicious German food. There you will also find beer, games, Dachshund racing and music. Lastly, they will host a costume contest so be sure to pick up your Oktoberfest costume from our warehouse before you head over!

Oktoberfest USA – La Cross, WI

Wisconsin is known to have one of the largest German populations in the US so it’s only natural that they embrace Bavarian culture by hosting an Oktoberfest celebration of their own. During this time, the city will host a variety of activities and parades scheduled throughout the span of Oktoberfest season. The three-week long celebration will include music, parades, beer tastings, photo contests, food, carnival rides and more.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, USA – Cincinnati, OH

Boasting to be the largest Oktoberfest event in the country, Cincinnati will hosts its three-day festival from September 19-21 this year. Sponsored by American brewing company, Samuel Adams, this event will have an extensive selection of beer from domestic brands to German favorites. Apart from food and music, the celebration will also feature Dachshund races, the “world’s largest chicken dance” and its annual bratwurst eating championship.

Reading Liederkranz Oktoberfest – Reading, PA

This established cultural center is dedicated to German heritage and is home to one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the world. This year, the party will last from October 1-5 with plenty of beer, food, and fun. What’s great about this event is that it’s family friendly with entertainment to keep the kids happy.

44th Annual Oktoberfest – Helen, GA

One of the longest running Oktoberfest celebrations in the country, the city of Helen, GA will once again raise their beer tents in its annual tradition. Dance to the tune of polka, consume German eats, watch the Oktoberfest parade and enjoy a traditional-style Oktoberfest celebration without having to fly to Munich.
