Sunday Funday: Gasparilla Pirate Fest

Today’s feature takes us to the other side of the country in Tampa, Florida. The event is scheduled for January 31, 2015 and is an all-day activity for people of all ages. A long standing tradition since 1904, this fun family event kicks off its celebration with the “invasion” of the Jose Gasparilla – a fully functional pirate ship! Also included in the festivities is a brunch where you can enjoy breakfast while watching the invasion of those scurvy pirates. Following the invasion is a pirate parade which features floats, marching bands, Krewes, and of course plenty of pirates. In addition, the Pirate Fest is hosting a pre-party the night before with its first ever street festival which will feature live music and entertainment.
