Summer Movie Party Series: The Avengers
As we continue our Summer Movie Party Series, today’s theme revolves around Hollywood’s biggest superheroes. The Avengers have dominated the box offices with record breaking sales and have ignited a whole new fan base to the iconic comic book super crew. With Avengers: Age of Ultron in theaters, now’s a great time to host an Avengers movie party! Invite your friends to re-discover the film origins of the exciting heroes and have some fun dressing up while you’re at it. With these simple tips, you can host an amazing Avengers party for your guests.
Invite your friends to come dressed as their favorite Marvel superhero. After all, as any true comic book fan would know, the Marvel characters and universes often collide. You can even host a costume contest with a prize to get all your friends into it!
Before the movie begins, set aside some activities for guests to enjoy while they’re trickling in. Most of the time, people don’t always arrive on time so it’s always nice to have an itinerary lined up to keep your guests entertained while you’re waiting for stragglers. Games are always a great way to kill some time. We suggest a fun game of “Steal the Hammer” (which is basically Steal the Bacon). You can use a Thor’s hammer prop for the “bacon” and each team can compete to get the most points! Another fun game, especially for the kids, would be a game of “Hulk Smash.” Just inflate balloons and fill them with fun trinkets or candy. The kids can smash the balloons and try to collect as many prizes as they can!
Have some fun with the refreshments by serving character-themed snacks. For example, you can have a red, white, and blue berry trifle themed after Captain America using strawberries, blueberries, pound cake and whipped cream. If you love a “pun” treat, you can serve “Smore’s Hammers” which you can make by sticking pretzel sticks into marshmallows and dipping them in chocolate and graham cracker crumbs. For Iron Man, you can either serve strawberry and pineapple kebobs or Big Stick popsicles to match his classic color combination. The options are endless and you can use your creativity to make a number of snacks and treats.
