It’s getting closer and closer to the best time of the year, Halloween! Halloween is not only the time for fun costume parties and tricks and treats, it’s also the perfect time to dust off those old scary slasher films and give ’em a watch, if you’re into that kind of thing anyway. Better yet, throw a classic slasher costume party this Halloween and your party will be unforgettable. To make things easier on you, we have selected our favorite classic horror/slasher movie costumes if you’re planning on making your Halloween extra scary.
A Nightmare On Elm Street:
Freddy Krueger This slasher movie icon is easily recognizable with his tattered striped sweater, brown tattered fedora, and don’t forget about his razor sharp claws. Don’t fall asleep, or you may find him hunting you in your dreams. 1, 2, Freddy’s coming for you…
More Freddy Krueger costumes and accessories can be viewed on our A Nightmare On Elm Street page, you can even find a costume for your dog!
Friday The 13th:
Another recognizable slasher movie icon, Jason is best known for tormenting campers at Camp Crystal Lake with his iconic hockey mask and machete. Check out all of our Jason related costumes on our Friday The 13th page. Just like Freddy, we even have a great Jason costume for your dog!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre:
If you’re anything like me, the sound of a chainsaw sends shivers down my spine, but only because the first thing I think of is Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface. This misunderstood classic slasher can be easily recognized with his “leather-face” mask, his roaring chainsaw, and his apron. You can see our full selection of Leatherface masks and costume accessories on our Texas Chainsaw Massacre page.
“Hi! I’m Chucky. Wanna play?” Is how this killer doll was introduced to us in 1988. Since then, he has followed the footsteps of our other favorite slashers, and has gone on to terrify us still today. Recognized in his blue “Good Guys” overalls, striped shirt, and small stature, just add a large prop knife to complete his killer look. All of our Chucky costumes can be viewed on our Licensed Chucky page.
Just like the other masters of slasher horror, Michael Myers always comes back for more, especially if it involves Laurie Strode. Michael Myers is traditionally seen in a jumpsuit, but he is always recognized by his plain white face mask. See our selection of Michael Myers related costumes on our Michael Myers Halloween page.
Although Scream is a more modern take of the slasher horror genre, there’s no denying Ghost Face is just as recognizable as the other masters of slasher horror. A big difference that sets Ghost Face apart from our other featured slashers is Ghost Face is secretly someone different dressed up in the iconic costume every time. See our selection of different Ghost Face costumes on our Scream page.
Jigsaw/Billy The Puppet
Although the Saw franchise isn’t considered in the “slasher” category, there’s no denying Jigsaw is a mastermind of setting up the goriest scenes for his victims to kill or be killed by his traps. Although Jigsaw’s identity was pretty well hidden for a long time, he was mostly identified as his visual representation “Billy The Puppet”. I still get chills when I hear “I want to play a game”. Our full selection of Saw related costumes can be viewed on our Saw Costumes page.
There are so many options if you’re hoping to give your friends nightmares Halloween night. Let us know your picks for favorite horror movie iconic characters in the comments below.
Part time Disney princess, but I love the Disney villains. I enjoy things that are spooky such as zombies, skeletons, and bad witches. I enjoy sewing projects and making delicious food and treats. My favorite superhero is Batman, because I am the night.
