If you’re anything like me, the sound of a chainsaw sends shivers down my spine, but only because the first thing I think of is Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface. This misunderstood classic slasher can be easily recognized with his “leather-face” mask, his roaring chainsaw, and his apron. “Hi! I’m Chucky. Wanna play?” Is how this killer doll was introduced to us in 1988. Since then, he has followed the footsteps of our other favorite slashers, and has gone on to terrify us still today. Recognized in his blue “Good Guys” overalls, striped shirt, and small stature, just add a large prop knife to complete his killer look. Although the Saw franchise isn’t considered in the “slasher” category, there’s no denying Jigsaw is a mastermind of setting up the goriest scenes for his victims to kill or be killed by his traps. Although Jigsaw’s identity was pretty well hidden for a long time, he was mostly identified as his visual representation “Billy The Puppet”. I still get chills when I hear “I want to play a game”.
