Family – Brothers and Sisters Day

Love, hostility, thoughtfulness, jealousy, happiness and more are all wrapped up in the brother and sister union that shouldn’t be broken. While sibling rivalry may happen from time to time, most know that no matter what, our siblings will be there with unconditional love and support, despite whatever squabble, argument or family circumstance may be taking place.

On May 2, 2014, celebrate that special bond and your relationship with siblings near and far. Don’t allow life to pass you by without acknowledging and appreciating those who share a mutual parent or parents. Life is too short to disregard a relationship with an immediate family member, especially those who have grown up together and experienced things collectively, something that most friends don’t have the opportunity to do with each other as children. A sibling relationship is one that should last and last, longer than most friendships, longer than most marriages or partnerships. A sibling is forever.

On this extraordinary day, take time to visit, make a phone call or even send a letter or card to your brother or sister, letting them know how much they mean to you. Put aside anything that has come between you and recognize how blessed we are to have certain people in our lives.

I don’t believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers.  It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage.  Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.  ~Maya Angelou
