Easy Oktoberfest Appetizers
|Oktoberfest season is here and you’re probably planning a party with your friends. Aside from planning the perfect outfit and getting the decorations together, I often find the menu to be the biggest challenge. That’s why today I wanted to share with you some easy Oktoberfest appetizer ideas to keep your guests satisfied.
Meat and Cheese Platter
You can never go wrong with a meat and cheese platter. It’s a great pick for practically any type of themed party. However, to give your meat and cheese platter an Oktoberfest feel, include a few variety of German-style sausage with a range of flavors from mild to spicy. Same with the cheese, you’ll want to have a variety of flavor profile and textures to compliment the rest of the plate and the beer.
Currywurst
In our German Food Guide, we mentioned how currywurst is a common snack-type fast food in Germany. These bite-sized treats with all their flavors make the perfect appetizer for your Oktoberfest party.
Pretzel Bites and Beer Cheese
Pretzels are a main staple at any Oktoberfest party. You can bake bite-sized pretzel treats and serve them with a beer-infused cheese dip as a delicious snack for your party guests.
Bratwurst Sliders
This easy finger food can be made with all store-bought items. All you need is pretzel buns, bratwurst, sauerkraut and mustard. Just cook what needs to be cooked and assemble the sandwiches before the party.
Potato Pancakes
The actual name is kartoffelpuffer but “potato pancakes” is much easier to pronounce. This German treat is made with only a few ingredients and is traditionally served with applesauce and a dollop of sour cream. Try it at your upcoming Oktoberfest party!
Now that you have some ideas to try, start planning your best Oktoberfest celebration yet. Do you have a favorite Oktoberfest dish? Tell us about it by leaving a comment!
