Disney’s Five Most Fabulous Villains
Ever since Wicked became a box office hit musical, pop culture has been fixated with female villains. The tale of Elphaba has brought in a new age of storytelling with the point of view as told by the bad guy. Last year, we got a glimpse of the Evil Queen in the Hollywood hit, Snow White and the Huntsman. This Friday, is the release of Disney’s newest film, Malificent (here). With every new twisted tale, these femme fatales keep getting more and more fabulous. Even Disney’s villain Halloween costumes by Leg Avenue, which were released last year, were a huge hit. That’s why today, we wanted to give a run-down on our favorite Disney villains and what makes them so deliciously evil!
Ursula, the Sea Witch
A vivacious villain bent on destroying King Triton and taking over his underwater kingdom. She’s got a fabulous new-age hairdo, full-figured curves which she is not afraid to flaunt, and a raging temper like no other. With a handful of powers and potions, this sea witch knows how to get what she wants!
Cruella De Ville
“If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will!”The Devil Wears Prada’s Miranda Priestly has nothing on this gal! A skin-tight dress, a hair full of volume and a killer set of heels is all this diva needs to run the world. Her biggest crime – having an eye for detail and her impeccable taste. This fiesty fashionista will feed her latest fashion craze even if it means stealing a hundred puppies! After all, to Cruella, there’s nothing worst than last season.
The Queen of Hearts
With a boiling temper as red as the roses in her garden, the Queen of Hearts is a real killer! She’s got a lavish ball gown, a lush garden and a deck of soldiers on hand who are waiting for her orders. One wrong step and it’s off with their heads. It takes a real queen to take command like she does!
Evil Queen
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the evilest of them all? That’s right! Snow White’s evil stepmother, the Queen. Driven with jealousy, poisoned Snow White to retain her throne of the most beautiful woman in the land. Pretty girl’s better stay out of her way, lest they become the latest victim to her juicy plot.
Maleficent
Last but not least, it’s the woman of the hour. Maleficent, the sensational sorceress that she is, sure knows how to get revenge. After being shunned by the royal family, places a curse on their newborn child. Not only does she have one incredible headpiece and a dramatic high-collared robe, her malicious magic is as dangerous as a fire-breathing dragon!
As pop culture continues to re-imagine our favorite fearsome fairytale foes, we can’t wait to see who will take the spotlight next!
