Host a Love is Dead Valentine’s Day Singles’ Party

How to Host a Love is Dead Valentine’s Day Singles’ Party

So you’re single and Valentine’s Day, (or as you know it, Single Awareness Day), is right around the corner and you can’t seem to get away from it. We know how you feel; not everyone is in the mood for love on Valentine’s Day. If you’re on board with killing the love, you can take a stand this year and host your very own anti-Valentine’s Day party! Today, we’re featuring a “Love is Dead” theme with a gruesome zombie motif for a fun and unique Valentine’s Day singles’ party. After all, haven’t we all suffered from having our heart ripped out by a lost love at one time or another? As a bonus, you’ll get to freak out those lovey-dovey couples dressed as a ghoulish zombie on their date night. To get you started, we’ve pulled together five great ideas to ensure a rockin’ night.

Invitations
First and foremost, you’ve got to start with the invitations. It’s the best way to get the message out for your party and get everyone on the same page with your costume theme. If you want to send out paper invitations, Zazzle.com has quite a few zombie-themed options. You can also opt to save some money by creating online invitations; just make sure to include some great zombie images on the e-vite.

Costumes
You can’t have a zombie themed party without zombie costumes! Spread the word to let all your guests know to come in full zombie costume and make-up. Check out our website for great zombie costumes, makeup, and accessories to create the perfect look.

Decorations
Once people arrive, the theme needs to be established with decorations. You can find plenty of zombie-themed decorations online to set the mood or just break out some Halloween decorations that fit the bill. To add that anti-Valentine’s Day element, you can also toss around some cuddly teddy bears…with a zombie twist. You can put fake blood or red dye on some old teddy bears to give them that adorably creepy look. Go ahead and ruin that teddy bear the ex won at the county fair! This tutorial on how to make these zombie teddies will help you along the way. Lastly, you can give pretty much any other run-of-the-mill Valentine’s Day decoration the zombie look by throwing some more of that fake blood on it.

Food
What’s a party without the proper food? Make sure you have plenty of snacks to keep your guests’ hunger satisfied and keep in mind that you can always play up your theme through food. You’ll love the zombie-themed recipes we’ve dug up from the grave like Red Velvet Rice Crispy Treats. Though they were originally intended as a romantic snack, we think they look a lot more like braaaiiiiins! You can also zombie-fy your favorite cupcake recipe by dying the frosting pink and piping a swirling pattern to resemble a brain! For a savory snack, we found this great Shot Through the Heart Meatball Skewers recipe. Get creative and dare to come up with a few recipes of your own!

Music Playlist
Finally, every party needs some awesome music. Be sure to keep the mood right by making sure those annoying sappy love songs don’t make it onto the queue. Get input from your other single friends to create a fun selection of break-up music that everyone can enjoy!
